CPC Pathology is a CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited, full-service pathology laboratory with board-certified pathologists in multiple specialties. We employ over 30 people dedicated to providing the highest quality pathology services to our clients and their patients. CPC Pathology has been in business for over 20 years servicing clients across the United States.

Our Team

Wenhua Liu, M.D., Ph.D. – President

Dr. Liu is a vital part of CPC’s dermatopathology success. He is triple board-certified in dermatopathology, anatomic pathology and clinical pathology. Dr. Liu has a special interest and focus on inflammatory diseases of the skin including direct immunoflourescence. He completed his dermatopathology fellowship at the University of Chicago, Department of Dermatology. Dr. Liu completed his anatomic and clinical pathology residency at the University of Chicago where he also served as chief resident. He continues to contribute to dermatopathology literature and has co-authored authoritative texts. Dr. Liu obtained his Ph.D. at Rush University in Chicago, IL in Biochemistry.

David P. Arps, M.D. - Medical Director

Dr. Arps joined CPC Pathology in early 2016, after serving as junior faculty at the University of Michigan. Dr. Arps is triple board-certified in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology and Dermatopathology. He completed his pathology residency at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI. Dr. Arps went on to complete a fellowship in Dermatopathology at the University of Michigan, where he trained under national experts in dermatopathology including Dr. Lori Lowe and Dr. Douglas Fullen. Dr. Arps has contributed to scientific literature with many publications and is currently working on direct immunofluorescence text with his mentors.

Kristen Paral, M.D.

Dr. Paral joined CPC in April 2018 after serving on the faculty at Duke University, where she focused on dermatopathology. She is triple board-certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and dermatopathology. Dr. Paral completed her residency at the University of Chicago, where she also completed fellowships in surgical pathology and dermatopathology. She earned her MD from the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago, where she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Paral has published a variety of journal articles and book chapters in the pathology field, with topics including melanoma, soft tissue neoplasms, and epithelial neoplasia.

Timothy L. Tan, D.O.

Dr. Tan joined CPC in July 2020 after completing his Dermatopathology Fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. He is double board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. Dr. Tan completed his residency at Northwestern University where he trained under dermatopathology experts Pedram Gerami, MD and Dr. Joan Guitart, MD. He earned his osteopathic medical degree from the Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. In the field of Pathology, Dr. Tan has published journal articles and book chapters related to such topics as alopecia, cutaneous lymphoma, and melanoma.

Jie Song, M.D.

Dr. Song joined CPC in 2023 after practicing dermatopathology and general pathology for 12 years in Northwest Indiana. He is triple board-certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, and dermatopathology. Dr. Song practiced clinical dermatology in China before moving to the United States. He completed pathology residency and dermatopathology fellowship at the University of Chicago. He also earned a MS in Biochemistry at Baylor College of Medicine and a MS in Computer Science at Rice University. Dr. Song has co-authored three pathology and dermatology textbooks and published dozens of articles in scientific journals.

Rosalind F. Sharain, M.D.

Dr. Sharain joined CPC in 2023 after serving as a dermatopathologist and general pathologist at a local hospital since 2021, where she was the Director of the Histology, Inmunohistochemistry, and Microbiology Laboratories. She completed her Dermatopathology Fellowship, Cytopathology Fellowship, and Surgical Pathology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education. She was Chief Fellow of Surgical Pathology. She is quadruple board-certified in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, Cytopathology, and Dermatopathology. She earned her Medical Doctorate at Loyola University, Stritch School of Medicine, cum laude. Dr. Sharain has published a variety of peer-reviewed publication, abstracts and book chapters in lymphomas, breast and skin cancer.

David D. Wang, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Wang has 30 years of experience and is triple board-certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology and cytopathology. He completed his pathology residency at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. Dr. Wang completed his Ph.D. in virology with a focus on molecular studies at the University of Chicago. He is CPC’s longest serving pathologist and was Medical Director and Chairman for 10 years. He earned his medical degree at the National Defense Medical Center in Taipei, Taiwan.
